"Yeah... best of both worlds would be to make her proud while also not draining my soul, though," Jungkook admits. He knows that it doesn't make sense to let a parent dictate a child's entire life, but there's also a significant part of him that feels indebted to his mother for all the years she spent looking after him, particularly the years between his father's death and her marriage to his stepfather. Jungkook knows how much stigma she faced, remembers all the nights she cried.

It makes it hard to think of disappointing her, even if Jungkook knows that chances are he might do that anyway, being a son who's in love with another boy. Being a son who has no desire to live out his life in corporate offices.

"But, I don't know, I'd have to look into salaries, but like. Being a physical education teacher wouldn't be bad! Or a gym trainer. Or dirtier stuff, like being a mechanic or being a farmer, it all sounds pretty fine to me. I just like the feeling of my body being totally worn out from work. Feels like a lot more of an accomplishment than finishing a book," Jungkook muses.
