While it's true that Jungkook's been hurt, he wonders if his mother's reasons for warding off visitors are more selfish than that. It's hard to know what he might only be seeing through a lens of emotion, too sensitive now after being cooped up for days, too on edge without anyone he can be fully open with. The kinder interpretation would be to assume that his mother, indeed, just doesn't want to put too much strain on her son by exposing him to so many people, that she wants him to focus instead solely on his recovery. But Jungkook can't help but wonder if her biases are what's more at play.

He doubts that she'd stop Yeongwook from visiting. Or her husband. Grandparents. It's just the friends that Jungkook loves, the friends he was with before the accident. Those are the only people Jungkook feels sequestered from — the very people he wants to see most now.

It's hard to push the topic; it only seems to make his mother's temper flare, bringing back that coldness and the wall that's been erected between them over the past couple of years. One that Jungkook desperately wants to tear down.

But maybe that's a bridge he'll have to cross again. He can't imagine being kept away from Yoongi much longer than he has, now that he's had the opportunity to hear Yoongi's voice again.

"I miss you, too," Jungkook says, his throat feeling raw and tight. "But now you can come soon, and it'll be better. Everything's gonna be okay."
